St Augustine Weddings Beautiful And Idyllic

By Teresa Fields

Planning a wedding away from home without the trauma normally associated around this event has become a popular choice for many couples. St Augustine weddings offer couples the opportunity of taking their vows in the oldest city in the States in delightful romantic settings. Function organizers are on hand to arrange the whole affair leaving the bridal couple to enjoy their momentous occasion.

St Augustine Florida is over 400 years old and is steeped in culture and history. First discovered by a Spanish explorer in 1513 and named La Florida it was only in 1565 that Pedro Menendez founded a settlement in the area. Previously Timucuan Indians had settled in this area and both new settlers and Indian American tribes have all left their mark on the city.

There is also a strong French influence from the Huguenots who settled there in 1564 when looking for a haven from persecution in France. In 1763 the British received the state of Florida and the city in exchange for relinquishing occupation and control of Havana. Many famous French landmarks were changed and other new ones created during the British rule.

These varying cultures have created a sumptuous diversity that lends itself to splendid weddings. It has everything one may need from a nostalgic carriage ride to a beachcomber casual affair on the beach with the Atlantic Ocean lapping the shore.

Local event planners are geared to create whatever a couple may want for their special occasion. There is a wide variety of venues and sites to choose from. The bridal couple need not worry about any arrangements and can just arrive for the ceremony.

Honeymoon suites, each with their own balcony, overlook the Atlantic Ocean creating an idyllic setting. When choosing St Augustine weddings people have the option of either an outdoor affair in a garden or on the beach or an indoor function in one of the historic buildings.
